Asshole Poseidon Hack on EE question.

You can imagine my frustration when I saw three villagers enter my base in 30 seconds. He dropped the lure, and I cranked out 5 more villies and then when the lure was at low health, but not down, I deleted my tc. I was going to see if I could beat him even with a deleted tc, and move to a different spot so the lure doesn't die. But apparently, even without the lure dying, the hack still works. Does it just need to get shot at once for it work? I'd like to try and beat an asshole hacker straight up, so I'm curious.
