I have played 1 game of AoE2 ever, and I'm about to money match a friend for 20$. Advice?

The fact that i've only played 1 game is part of the terms of the MM, and is kind of the point.

My saving grace is that I've played a whole lot of AoM and a fair bit of SC2 (high silver at the moment), and to my knowledge i'm by far the more experienced RTS player.

However i know my friend has a decent bit of experience playing AoE, and i don't expect him to be a total pushover. I suspect he'll try whatever cheese he can muster.

I guess i'm looking for major differences from AoM that i should be actively aware of.
