My question is: which unique unit do people have the most contradictory opinions about? It seems to me that for the Ballista Elephant, there are two camps of people. In one group, you have people who say this unit is tanky, destructive, and great. In the other group you have the people who think it has too many armor classes so that it is "countered by everything". Obviously, both things can't be true. But which is it?
An honorable mention seems to be the Teutonic Knight. Also perceived to be strong, but I rarely see them built in most games due to their sluggishness and high cost.
Are there any that I am leaving out?
Missionaries seem to be universally despised as being weak, while no matter how many times they nerf Arambai, most people seem to still think they are OP and/or just fine. There don't seem to be many contradictory opinions about the strength of these units, but I am constantly confused by the contradictions on here about the strength of Ballista Elephants.
