Age of Mythology Original Disk Not working - please help

Hello All!

So I have original disk copies of age of mythology and the titans expansion and was trying to play them the other day. The installation went okay and it had me enter the product key and everything seemed to work fine. I then started it up via the startup menu from the disk (i.e. not in game menu, the menu where you can install and uninstall and update and whatnot) but when I click play in this menu the disk runs for a second, the resolution changes, but then goes back to normal and nothing happens. And when I run the aom.exe or aomx.exe from the programs menu nothing happens at all. I have tried changing the compatibility to windows xp (serivice pack 2) and that did nothing as well. I also have run the msxmlenu. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the same many times and that did nothing. Any help or ideas would be appreciated!
