Games like AOE-3 which offer multiplayer experience.

I play dota and aoe-3 (age of empires 3) primarily, and I have been hooked on aoe-3 recently. It does have multiplayer, however the community size and the numbers are really low.

Is there any game that offers what AOE 3 does and has good matchmaking and decent playerbase?
