My ELO is 1750-1800 on HD and I’ve been playing frequently on it for 3 years with similar ELO. Before that I played on the zone and dabbled on HD. I almost exclusively play team games which I think makes it more difficult to increase ELO.
However, I’ve noticed people on average seem to be getting better overall. I know my skill has increased by focusing on build orders, better micro, learning civ attributes, walling more frequently, watching pro games and T90O, etc. However my ELO is the exact same as 2 years ago.
I think there are a couple reasons for this:
1) Average skill actually is increasing. The average 1800 is more skilled today than 2 years ago on HD. This is due to so many available online resources, pro games, etc. For example even a 1650 knows how to quick wall decently now and everyone knows build orders.
2) Smurfs! I think many very skilled players are playing with ~1650-1850 ELO on HD.
Am I imagining this? Thoughts?
