Any mods out there that can help with running DE on lesser computers?

I use a laptop that has less than 2 GB of dedicated VRAM, which means I don't meet the minimum requirement to run DE. The game runs quite nicely when I'm looking at an area with few trees and/or buildings. However, when I move my camera to an area full of trees, buildings or units, my fps goes down quite a bit. Are there any mods available that can help? I have the small trees mod and a mod that reduces the resolution of the ground tiles, but are there any other mods that can help?
