Goths OP?

So i have been playing ranked for a few months now. I am around 1000 elo with 70 matches played.

In around a 20% of the games, I am playing against goths. That it's a high %. I believe they must be very popular around my elo level since they are so easy to use -eco and spam. I mean there is no doubt about that since it is always so hard to counter them - usually archers until they reach huskarl. I managed to win 2 games out of 10 in the last week against them. In one I was Incas, luckily, and in the other it was megarandom and I picked a water civ. Its frustrating how OP they are, it happens in dark age, feudal and even in post imp.

How I am supposed to beat them?
