[ QUESTION ] Mechanics of x256 mod and AI

Question: If I use the x256 mod, is there a possibility of enabling it for myself, but also so AI can progress across natural tech tree?

Body: I remember using it on regular AoE2 HD, and the AI just researched first level of every tech and then stopped progressing ( like getting every feudal smithy upgrade once), probably because it didn't know how to deal with the same upgrade being available again and so It really stunted the experience and the AIs capability to fight.

I have been considering buying AoE2 definitive edition solely because of the cheat code ''Going Above and Beyond'', which replaces the need for x256 mod, but since then have found out that It was event exclusive and that I won't be capable of obtaining it. My main interest was trying to vs 4-7 AI using this code and seeing what happens.

Alternatively, if someone can tell me, how to enable the code for myself, If I buy definitive edition, I would really appreciate it.
