Extreme AI keeps beating my m@a rush by microing gold miners

Noob here having trouble taking down the extreme AI with m@a.

I can hit the AI in late dark age with my drush, though usually it goes up to feudal quickly despite my rush (less so on land only maps though), which is fine so long as I can keep it off gold. Usually I hit feudal at around 9 min with 20 vills, skipping loom, and turn my militia into m@a. The AI typically hits it at around the same time or a bit later if I manage to successfully lame a boar. I can keep a guy near the gold but the problem is the AI darts in with five or six villagers, grabs a tiny bit of gold, then runs away before my m@a can do any damage. I can station more m@a near the gold but the AI just sends more villagers one at a time, grabbing a couple gold each until it hits castle and it just snowballs from there. Building a tower or switching to archers would stop this but I'm trying to win with a m@a rush. There's no way I can keep up with the AI's villager micro while managing my own economy and trying to hit its berries and wood with the rest of my m@a. I have to put the m@a guarding gold on stand ground and just keep microing them when I see an AI vill otherwise they suicide into the TC. I do get blacksmith upgrades as I'm able. First scale mail armor then forging.

This strategy worked fine with towers, scouts and archers but I just can't get it to work with m@a. The window to attack the vills while they're getting gold can be as little as one hit depending on where the gold spawns. The AI is very quick to pull them back as soon as they're under attack. I've gotten lucky with RNG a few times but I'd like to reliably beat the extreme AI with all the meta strategies before I attempt to dive into multiplayer. No cheesy villager baiting with buildings, walling them in, or getting them to suicide against towers, I want to practice strategies that will work against fellow noobs like myself.

PS. I usually play as the Celts. I like their bonuses and I usually watch Hoang and DauT streams.
