The aoe2 and aoe3 communities being relatively isolated, which I find to be a shame, it would be nice if some event brought the two communities together.
2 player teams (no subs), one who's great at aoe2 and another specialising in aoe3, and the win condition for each set is advantage 2 (if it were Bo5 you'd often have an uneven amount of age 2 and age 3 games and it would be unfair, if it were an even number you'd risk a tie).
Qualifying could be done by converting ELO to ladder percentile and adding the sum of one player's aoe2 percentile plus the some of the other's aoe3 percentile. The highest sum get assigned seed 1, 2 etc all the way down to 16, or 8 if you want to keep it simpler.
Skirmish/random map game modes, no pure water maps for better accessibility, and at least two co-casters from each game at all times - reinforcing the expert/noob dynamic. An aoe2 caster doesn't quite know what aoe3 players don't know about aoe3 and vice-versa, so the co-caster from the other game can always ask questions from a noobier standpoint and the resident expert can give an adequate answer.
This could potentially bring a substantial prize pool, especially for aoe3 which has a smaller competitive scene. From Microsoft's perspective, it would be great to encourage players from both communities to try out the other game.
What do you think? Would you watch this tournament? Do you think it would be good for both games? Do you think it could succeed in terms of funding, player participation and
