The semifinals between Erik the Red (MBL) and Robin Hood (TheViper) were a "Best of 5" series. In Game 1 of the Best of 5, both players fought extremely well, and MBL eked out a victory in a drawn-out post-imperial showdown. In that game, both players had multiple setbacks but always managed to recover until the final post-imperial battle. In Game 2, however, MBL surrendered very early while he still had lots of opportunity to win. When MBL called "Good Game," commentator T90 Official immediately said, "O.k., so, I think it's slightly early . . . ." – acknowledging that the surrender could be considered premature. How do we explain MBL's early surrender in this game? Let's keep in mind that MBL is not a player who tires easily – he routinely plays for 10+ hours straight on his twitch channel.
