Need some tech advice

Howdy I have been playing age on and off since I was 12 using cheese steak jimmy. I recently got on the voobly scene. I know it’s not great but I use a crack version of aoe 2 conquerors that I got on my highschool laptop back in the day. I’d buy DE if my laptop could run it but for now, I’m chillin with what I got. If my buddy buys the HD version of the game can he play on voobly with me with the conquerors version? Thanks
