Playing Vanilla online with TAD disc only

It's been a long time since I've played AOE3 at all, and even longer since I have played any version other than TAD. I can't even find any of my discs aside from TAD. However, my friend recently got vanilla AOE3, so I want to play online with him. But I can't figure out how we can play with each other - I don't know how to turn off the expansion. We both have the non-steam version (CD version) for Windows, so we would be playing through ESO.

Is there any way for me to play vanilla AOE3 online even though I only have the TAD disc?
