I started the game half a year ago and I think I have got the basics of it. Of coz I know based on the standard here I am still a huge noob. I am trying to transition to voobly and have been playing in the NPL. But I find them all very easy to beat. Even once I beat a 1390. (Actually so far I have won every games in NPL, minus some TG where my team were just too noob) A lot of them play sim city or don't follow build order. And the worst thing is there is a huge community that doesn't speak English. It's very hard to communicate in team games. Just the other day I resigned a bit prematurely after finding out my teammates were complete wankers. Afterwards I received some random obscure Spanish rants from my ex-teammates This would have never happened in HD. HD people in general are well-meaning and predominantly English speaking.
Also I think the skill difference in a set elo range is so huge. In HD TGs 1650+ aren't so bad. At least they don't play sim city like the 1350s do. We are able to carry ourselves as a worthy teammates. Like knowing the build order ( even a half-assed one), the up time and unit compositions etc.
Before I post this I did some research, I read some old Reddit articles saying that HD elo is inflated by around 350. So if that is the case I should be playing with 1300, which I find are still novice at the game. Am I playing outside of my league? How can I find good opponents?
