Best counter against a group of Trebuchets?

I've been grinding with friends lately and have noticed that the way I loose when I do is that they bring a group of 5-6 trebuchets, and despite the fact that I have trebuchets outside of my base, my 2-3 trebuchets that are in range have no chance against the 5 or 6.

Often times I have a weak military as well, meaning that I can't counter attack. Now obviously, my problem could be solved with a strong military, but is there anything else?

My friends and I have a 'grace period' where we all agree that until X:XX, we will not attack unless killing a scout or something to that effect, so an early rush isn't feasible, so by the time we are attacking, almost everything is maxxed out.
