I'm just watching the latest team game on T90's YouTube channel where DauT went for a Koreans trush - obviously his watch towers are upgraded to guard towers for free in the castle age, but other than in such a scenario I've basically never seen the guard tower upgrade researched (I recently made a database with 2k4+ 1v1 games; in this games, guard tower was researched 108 times - in comparison to loom, which was researched 14515 times)
I went on Google and YT to find a SOTL(-like) explanation/statistical analysis, when the upgrade is viable...but I didn't find one. Would anyone with a bit more experience care to make a statement on when it's worth researching guard tower, factoring in the different (hidden?) boni against units/buildings/...?
