Loved this game as a kid, need advice for Steam choice

So I played this game religiously as a kid and over the years have dug my old discs out of the attic to play, and now with my most recent attempt cannot for the life of me get the game to launch on windows 10 (I tried everything I could find on reddit and the internet with no dice). I am going to just buy it on steam as they have a sale going on right now. First time Steam user. For someone not interested in online multiplayer and just looking to relive the campaigns and offline multiplayer, which is the best package for me? I was trying to install AoEII and Conquerors expansion. Does the AoEII HD have the expansion as well? I am not interested in the Africa expansion or AoEIII. Thanks in advance for any advice!
