Is it me or has micro-ing become really horrible?

I've been playing on HD for quite a while now. I take a few months off now and then; I just got back into playing and find that my villager micro-ing isn't working very well. By that, I mean I'll move villagers to chop wood and they do nothing. I'll move them to a gold pile and find they're just standing there. I'll point them in one direction and they start walking in the opposite direction. I play at a 1750-1800 ELO level so I certainly know how to micro my villagers. It seems HD has really become buggy in past few months with some of these basic movements.
