I bought Age of Empires II HD on steam recently to play with a few friends online. However, unlike every other online game we play, we keep dropping connection to the game and our games keep crashing. The restore function works but sometimes we don't get the chance to save and it is generally pretty annoying having to relaunch the game, upload the save and then play it multiple times in one game.
When i googled this problem, i heard about voobly and i downloaded the client. However, when i joined the new player lobby, the client asked me to download the compatibility patch. I tried using the client to download the patch but the downloader wouldn't launch. The link to download the patch leads to https://age2hd.homelinux.org which doesn't load. I did find another guide (https://support.voobly.com/display/vkb/KB1054+Clean+installation+of+Aoe2HD+with+compatibility+patch) online but it requires a complete uninstall of the game. I would like to fix the problem without having to do that.
Does anyone know what I should do? Is a clean install the only way to do this?
