Why do people do this?

Something I've noticed on the HD Edition that really piss me off regarding team games.

Somebody with an elo of, say 1649 starting a lobby called "2v2 <1650" or something, and then when two 14++ or 15++ people join and one 16++ they immediately set themselves to the same team as the 16++. Usually when I suggest that the low elo players split teams to make it fair I get kicked.

Honestly, why do people do this? I can understand why people smurf, though I don't like it, because it can otherwise be difficult to find games if you have a high elo, but if you have a low-medium elo that's not a problem. So why would you start a 2v2, not let anyone with a higher elo than you play, and then deliberately skew the teams so it's even more unbalanced in your favour? If you wanted faceroll, then why bother playing a 2v2 at all? Granted, games with an uneven number of players per team aren't ranked, but all you're going to gain by artificially increasing your score by only ever playing against people one or two hundred points lower than you is ending up at a level where you can't compete.
