Currently the game is unbalanced for 2 reasons:

Bad pathing, thus negatively affecting melee units.

Archers are THE meta unit for this game. They're so much so, that infantry and the Knight line are rendered extremely ineffective. I propose archers lose accuracy at range, and they be made slower.
If you look at all the top civs chosen from NAC3, virtually all of them, barring Aztecs, are Archer civs.
There are many threads in this forum about boosting Teutonic Knights, Cataphracts, the militia line, etc. They're all completely undone by the archer line, unrealistically so.
This would solve so many current issues in the game.
