Hey there. I've been playing AoE2 on and off for...a really long time. Started when it was released and I'm a big strategy nut in general. Problem is, I only ever play against the AI. I get some rough competitive anxiety with online games.
With all the positivity I see around it, I've been thinking about breaking into online multiplayer with AoE2, but there's one thing holding me back, and that's the "douche" strategy. I see it around a lot in replays, or just people talking about having it done to them (or doing it), and I know for a fact that, even though I know how to counter it, it would frustrate me to no end and I'd likely quit just out of sheer annoyance. So how likely would it be for me to join a ranked game at 1000 ELO or lower, and get douched? Is it still something people do?
