How do you counter siege and monks as Malay?

Malay lack both bloodlines and the Hussar upgrade, which is the go-to unit to counter both mass siege (like mass siege onagers) and mass monks.

In the games I made light cavalry they didn't live long enough to make a dent. They either died too quickly or in the case of siege didn't seem to do as much damage before getting killed.

So as Malay how do I counter these units?
