Opinion: the last DLCs damaged competitive AoE2 more than they improved it, yet people are asking for more. There's a way to make everyone happy

Let me start by saying I didn't make the first statement up from thin air. It seems to be the predominating opinion amongst top 50 players (BTW, if you have a top player who disagrees, especially about Burgundians, I'd be really curious to hear his arguments).

But also, I understand why people who just play aoe2 to chill vs the IA would want more civs, more campaigns at all cost. (obviously just because I wrote that, this post will be read by people who play competitively and still want more civs, you guys are allowed to complain that I pretended you didn't exist)

Regardless of whether you think we got enough civs or not, you have to agree with the fact that at some point, it will be too much. We can't keep piling up new civs for novelty's sake and expect to keep the game as balanced as and competitive as it is now.

But I think there's actually a very simple solution for that. Instead of making us pay for DLCs, make us pay for a subscription, like 2€/month with guaranteed new civs every 6 months or so and make these new civs seasonal. We get to play them for 6 months or so before they disappear from the ladder and every kind of competitive gameplay, unless off course the community, top players and devs agree that this civ was a great addition to the game in which case we keep it.

Thoughts?
