Hi guys, so im currently in a bit of dilema and i thought maybe the folks here on reddit would be able to help me! So i recently bought a punching bag and i need somewhere to hang it. So i found this place in my back yard.
Only problem is, those beams look weak and rickety. They are not as thin as they look in the picture though. So i was wondering if my solution would work.
Basically, the idea is to go to Home Depot and buy a block of the most powerful wood they have and bolt it down ON TOP and between 2 of the beams. Then an eyebolt would be drilled into the block (which is between, but above the beams) and the bag would hang from the block and not the beams. Since you guys know about transfer of energy and such, would the beams hold up with this solution? The bag itself is a heavy 70lb mma bag. The other solution is remove 2 beams entirely and add 1 thick beam thats from a harder material (bought at home depot) and attach the bag to that beam, but that is more expensive and time consuming. So id like to hear what you guys think. Sorry if this isnt the sub to ask this question! If it isnt, a point in the right direction would be appreciated! Thanks
