[Need Help] Study about places where humans cannot generate energy.

I'm doing a study about the places where we, humans, can't generate any energy, or palces where it's possible to use energy previously produced but it's to expensive.

Can you list me places where this happens? The only place I know about is the place we're the oil is gathered.
