People able to force a Desynch and end the match? (HD)

Been playing against these same 2 guys several times now, every time I make a push and end up getting into one of their bases (current ELO is 1450, theirs is 1500 and 1562 respectively) one of them gets a red ping and suddenly desynchs the entire game, is it possible for people (when they are losing) to force a desynch and not lose ELO? Certain it is not my connection as it is always this one guy who spikes with a red ping and the other 2 stay green.
