Technical problem please help- scenario file disappeared (HD)

So I’ve been working on a custom scenario in the map editor on HD(steam) and was offline for a couple days. One day steam won’t let me start offline so I reconnect to the internet and now my file has disappeared from the scenario list in game. I checked the local files and my scenario is still there, a .aoe2scenario file in the _common/scenario folder.

I verified the cache through properties on steam- nothing. I tried copying, renaming, and manually removing then adding it back to the folder, nothing. I tried adding it through the mod folder, nothing. I tried changing the file extension to .scx/.scx2 which did make the file appear in game, but wasn’t able to load(decode failed).

I’ve googled around but haven’t found any solutions. My best guess is that the file became corrupted, and whatever backup steam would have used was lost in offline.

Does anyone know how to make the file playable/editable again? I’m willing to try a third party editor but if I can’t load it in HD it’s pointless.

Notes: it is only this one file that disappeared. the scenario dependencies were set for all 4 dlc, and there aren’t any triggers or excessive fauna. I will upload the file on steam if someone wants to help troubleshoot.

TL,DR: custom scenario disappeared in game but is still in local files.
