So I've played the original AOE probably more than anyone on here (weird flex) as I had no life as a kid. I pretty much was at the forefront of the choson war/reg DM when they were a thing. I still remember when zone.com had deathmatch 1 & 2 and those eventually closed to give way to Babylonian which held most of the DM games. I still remember reading the news that zone.com was shutting down and the great migration to GameSpy. I was heartbroken but I also had Diablo II to keep me satisfied. Anyways, my questions..
I bought AOE:DE when it first came out and it was a complete and useless mess. Villagers would CONSTANTLY stop whatever they were doing (Chopping, farming, berries etc etc) and just stand there. Once people started getting up there in pop with legions or whatever units started acting really funky like getting stuck on each other and not really progressing forward (not even talking about them getting stuck on the environment). Add these game breaking bugs with the poor frames, extremely lousy multiplayer lobbies and crashes I quickly got my refund.
Are ANY of the issues I mentioned above fixed or not as bad? I know they are coming out with a "patch" later this month but it doesn't look like any of this is addressed and just some bullshit marketing ploy to trick people into thinking this isn't truly abandoned. Thanks :)
Also, how is the community for Deathmatch games currently? Never was fond of RM.
