Question about playing Steppe

When playing steppe is it worth scouting for the first 10-15 seconds for the perfect TC spot, close to either the gold/wood lines or both?

Or is it better to drop the TC instantly.

I tend to scout around for a tiny bit before placing TC but that has lead to me being slightly behind in my uptimes which when playing better opponents can be my undoing.
