In AoE2 it seems there are so many different rule sets tournaments are played by. Including mirrors, hidden pick, multiple different ways of banning, elimination can only play a civ once. There are just so many different rules people play by.
So my question is pretty simple what is the best competitive format for 1v1s in say a tournament environment. Because I am curious. If I had to guess or put my opinion out there then non mirror civs are the most fun to watch always. I would even prefer it if you can't play mirrored civs no matter what with some form of draft. But drafting in 1v1 is weird and unfair it's most fair to have them pick at the same time, but can lead to mirror civs.
So I was thought maybe have a draft of 2 bans per player and the person who gets 2nd pick on civ gets to choose the map from a specific map pool of like 20 or so maps. he would also ban last. Or does that just leave the person who picked first open to being countered to easily? Can that just not be done does it always have to be hidden civ? Idk, I'm pretty stupid so tell me your opinion.
