Account already taken for Multiplayer wtf

So I grew up playing all of the aoe games at home, but the cd broke for aoe3. I recently bought a aoe3 new copy (on cd) for the sole purpose of playing online multiplayer. But when I tried to make an account it says that an account already exists on the cd key. Is it possible that a random cracked keygen used my exact cd key?

If so, what the fuck do I do now?
