My previous attempt to do this with Turks was much more mixed than my attempt with Byzantines. I realized that I should attempt to balance a civ in the opposite way so I can become better at this. So which civ seems to really need some nerfs? Most say the Mayans so i'll try with them first.
Civilization bonuses
- Start the game with an Eagle Scout.
- Start the game with +1 Villager), but with -50 food.
- Resources last 15% longer.
- Foot archers are 10%/15%/20% cheaper in the Feudal/Castle/Imperial Age. (Down from 10%,20%,30%)
- Team bonus: Walls are 50% cheaper.
Unique units
- 📷 Plumed Archer (quick and resilient foot archer) (Elite Upgrade cost increased from 700F,1000W to 850F,1100W)
Unique technologies
- 📷 Obsidian Arrows (Archer) line has +6 attack against buildings and stone defense)
- 📷 El Dorado) (+40 hit points for Eagle Warriors)
Technologies Removed
- Shipwright
- Treadmill Crane
These changes are made to give them less of an absolute dominance in the archer department. My lowering their discount it makes them harder to mass on the same level. Plus increasing the Plumed Archers elite cost to make them a slightly harder blow to your economy. The removal of Shipwright allows them to keep their navies flexibility but makes the navy more expensive to field. Finally removing Treadmill Crane weakens them defensibly a little bit meaning that they are a little more vulnerable in the late game.
This one was a bit harder to do but I do hope to hear what other people think about these changes so please comment on whether these changes are good and what you would do to re-balance Mayans.
Thank you for your time.
