What am I doing wrong? Khmer.

Long story short I bbought the game again for the first time in like 10 years, love it, veryr addicting.

However, I lovve playing online but I always feel like I'm get wrecked. I try to rush to castle age with 30 villagers, but when it comes to building troops I feel they are always very very weak.

Do I constantly upgrade my woodcutting and food to increase the percentage of resources they gain or just rush to castle? i'm so confused.

when i build the blacksmith which upgrade should i be doing first to make an impact?
