What do you think of units having one attack against enemy soldiers and another against buildings/ships?

In AoE2, soldiers used the same weapon to attack buildings. Infantry would use their melee weapons, archers would shoot arrows into the buildings and so on.

In AoE3 however, non artillery land units, regardless of if they're cavalry, infantry or archers, throw flaming torches into the building. What do you think of this?
