Playing the demos

I wanted to try the demo (or trial) version of aoe and Rise Of Rome. Found both on archive.org. After downloading and unpacking of both exes I hit run. Accept suggested compatibility settings then the installer shows up. I click on I agree and nothing happens the EULA goes away and I'm back in the menu, in RoR it gave me the message that goes something like this: "Aoe: RoR trial was successfully installed go to your Start menu MS games and click on Aoe: RoR trial" then it closes the installer. In the folder there's only AOE 2 that I installed the last week. I had the same reusults on both Win7 both Win10.
