Is it best to do the Rise of Rome campaigns in order?

Recently finished the first 4 campaigns on AoE:DE despite the current AI bugs/issues. I never had the Rise of Rome expansion in the past, so I am new to the rest of the campaigns. Would it be an ideal experience to do them in order?

I am currently stuck on the 2nd scenario of the Rise of Rome campaign because I get rushed with Heavy Cavalry while I'm in the Tool Age... Figured I might need to wait until the AI is fixed if I want to do the RoR campaigns in order.
