Is this game not G-sync compatible?? WTF?

My monitor (alienware AW3418dw) has a feature to display its current refresh rate on the screen. All other games change this refresh rate with the games FPS (as g-sync should) good way to confirm its working....

But not AOE definitive edition??? Has anyone else got this? my fps counter will change but my monitors refresh stays locked at its max 120hz...confirmed gsync is active in nividia control panel.

you may think gsync is on but unless you can see your monitors refresh rate in real time you never know...
