Played AoM as a kid (just the original 3 civs) and enjoyed it a lot but didn’t know ANYTHING about meta or tactics and only either played with friends or vs CPUs. What do I need to learn or practice to get good and what are the best civs/gods?

I played Egyptian (usually set or Isis) or Greek (mostly Hades and Zeus) and just had a great time as a kid. Now that I purchased the new steam version of the game (dragon something?) with titans and Asian civs I’m completely lost as to how to play the game.

In addition, I don’t think I ever knew how to play the game as a kid. Any tips?
