Does Lithuanian Drush work for larger maps?

I'm a fan of quick rush attacks in AOE2, and more of a startgame rush player, so I watched this video called the 3 minute Lithuanian Drush, you can check it out right here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRSC1GUXthk

So I thought it'd be cool if I try it out, but I faced few issues... First off I thought I could kill few villagers with the 2 militia + scout cavalry, but rather my troops died... So what exactly should my army do on discovering the enemy village?

Secondly is this strategy effective on larger maps?
