Is laming considered bad mannered or unsportsmanlike?

Greetings, i am an avid fan of strategy games and i always look for any edge i have over my opponent. (DISCLAIMER: am not the best player in the world, just looking for answers)

AoE 2 is an RTS, where every player wants to maximize their economy in the early game. A good way to hurt your opponent is blocking their boar lure, taking their boar, pushing their deer away from them or generally attacking their villagers with your scout, so they have to micro and pay attention to remine or attack your scout.

Why is this even considered laming , if i am playing ffa or 1v1 and the game rules allow me to do this, should it be considered good play?

(this is all assuming you laming him does not cripple you and it is actually viable to disrupt opponents animals/villagers)

TL,DR : Why is laming called laming, if it is a part of the game and not harmful?
