I'm a new player learning about AoE2, and was playing a bit of the Slavs. My one consistent complaint about AoE is how opaque the game mechanics are. It's fun to explore, but particularly when they change, it can be very hard to know how the mechanics actually work.
So what's the current state of the Slavs farming bonus? I see threads from last year saying that it's useful in the feudal age, but it becomes irrelevant post wheelbarrow (or others saying post hand cart). And then some similar threads saying it's still useful because you can delay wheelbarrow/handcart until late Imperial (and others disagreeing). And then I see some more recent threads that seem to be referring to their farming bonus as an imperial age boost. So was it changed? How does the Slav farming bonus effect your play (honestly, I don't really want to try and dive into the details of the pathing villagers take as they farm, and the tick rate of the game speed or whatever goes into this, I just want to know how to play the basics of this game, because it sucks to play around a bonus that you find out doesn't do anything).
