I fell in love with AoE 2 when I was in middle school. I had dial up, and I was never that good. Even now (I'm 30) I'm still not good. I can barely beat hard computer AI. And online I'm stuck in feudal age when others are in Castle and killing my villies with knights.
I've given up on the basic part of the game (gather resources and build an empire). However, there is 1 thing that I have always loved and probably always will, the custom scenarios like Castle Blood.
I never knew the advanced parts of the game until I started playing more competitive online. But it's been so long I forgot everything, or if the current devs have changed the rules. For exmample, I think you were supposed to patrol or guard units when you wanted them to fight more effectively.
Can you offer some tips for being a better player? What's some advanced strats? I have discord if you want to teach me with voice. Are there certain must have workshop content? (I just found out about the grid markers, gonna try that one). Or is there a clan system like there was back in the day?
