Militia and Infantry movespeed

This is an interesting discussion. This goes for all infantry whose movement speed is currently 0.9. (there are only 2 others, Dismounted Konnik and Serjeant)

I think we can all agree that the militia line isn't really used after M@A. Unless in supremely rare circumstances.

I've often thought a big cause of this is just how damn slow they are. before squires they are 0.06 slower than skirms and archers and 0.1 slower than spearman (you should try run with a 10ft pole, and then run with an extra 10kg on you). With squires their speed comes to 0.99, 0.03 faster than archers and skirms. although that 0.03 is basically neglible, you don't get squires and are suddenly able to close the gap on archers in the same way husbandry makes an impact. 10% of 1.35 or 1.5 has a far greater impact than 10% on 0.9.

Fun fact, if a Berber opponent has done wheelbarrow in feudal your M@A will never catch them, unless you are celts. 0.9 vs 0.97

What is the militia meant for? Buildings, Huskarls, Rams, Eagles. There are others but that is the simplified version.

So what to do about them? I'm honestly not sure. If you just flat out buff them to 1 then they might be too fast after squires. Or buff them to 0.95 they'll be better in feudal and still manageble after squires.

Buff Squires to give 15% movespeed bonus? but then celts would need 20% as their civ bonus, which would require changes to the Woad raider otherwise they'd be as fast as a non-husbandry camel.

Alternatively, do they just reduce the archer and skirm movespeed to be 0.9 instead of 0.96?

I'm interested to hear everyone's thoughts about militia-line and where their place might be found beyond feudal age.
