[DE] Is it just me or are the campaigns insanely difficult even on easy?

I was able to beat the first 4 Glory of Greece missions by using some dumb cheese strats, but now I'm on the 5th and it seems absolutely impossible after hours of trying. The AI is way too aggressive. If I wanted a challenge like that I'd be playing on hard. The campaigns are the only reasons I got this game, I'm not interested in multiplayer at all. But so far I'm really not enjoying it. The difficulty level doesn't compare to the AoE II campaigns. I just wanna play normally.
