Games for crossplay between Mac and PC?

Looking for games to play with a friend. He's got a Mac, I've got a PC.

We tried Age of Empires, but it seems like anything that isn't actually running in his Mac client doesn't show up for me to join.

I've tried looking through here and steam, but couldn't find anything that specifically addresses this. Appreciate any help!
