I just started playing a few weeks ago. Played a few games on HD before switching to Voobly. Played ~20 games in the New Player lobby and was on a 10 game win streak before being told I was probably a smurf and to stop beating up new players and go play on Medieval Siege.
I hop in the Medieval Siege lobby and proceed to get rolled my first four games. The rating jump from ~1400 to 1600 doesn't help matters. Most of the people I played have hundreds or thousands more games played. I'm sure if I keep at it I will learn from better players and get to a more appropriate rating.
Still, I'm looking forward to the queued matchmaking in Definitive Edition.
