As we all know, Hydras are not that good a unit because they cost a lot of food, they don't live long enough to make good use of their extra head mechanic, they're too slow, and they come in during the Heroic Age, which Greek players tend to try and bypass.
While looking at an old topic on the Hydra, I had an idea I wanted to share: What if the Hydra started with its 5 heads right off the bat, but loses them as it takes damage?
This would make a Hydra very dangerous when it's initially spawned, but focus-firing it will quickly diminish its damage potential. For instance, at 100-81% health it has its five heads, 80-61% health gives it 4 heads, and so forth.
This would be a lot more interesting and less gimmicky than the current iteration, as spending the time to farm up the 5 heads on the current Hydra is largely impractical. Of course, its damage bonus would have to be adjusted if it spawned with all 5 heads at the start, but it'd be better than what's on live.
