There is 4 resources stating the ethnicity of the man recorded in Arabic :
1- Ibn Khallikan ( says he is Arab )

2- Al-Zarkali ( says he is Arab )

3- al-Maqqari ( says he is Arab )

4- Ibn Idhari ( says he is Berber)

5- Ibn Khaldoun ( conflict in sources, in one book he says he is Berber, and in another says he is arab)

in summary :

- Tariq was born in 670AD.

- Conquest of north africa was in 650AD.

- the name of his father is Ziad which is an Arabic name.

- Thus, Tariq's father is definitely Arab, making Tariq an Arab in turn.
